Gratitude with Discernment

Gratitude with Discernment: Why Every Christian Must Be Thankful to God Yet Watchful of the Evil One Inspired by a thoughtful conversation with my friend Tony Gratitude is one of the most beautiful expressions of the Christian life. It reflects a heart that sees God’s hand in everything—both in joy and in suffering. A thankful believer is a grounded believer. Yet, there is a dimension of the Christian life that is often overlooked in modern spirituality— spiritual awareness . While we are called to rejoice in God’s goodness, we are equally called to remain alert to the presence and schemes of the evil one. The Christian life is not lived in a vacuum. It is lived in a world where God is sovereign—but where spiritual opposition is also real. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion…” – 1 Peter 5:8 These two command...

Servant Leadership

Servant Leadership When Jesus Redefined What It Means to Lead By: Joshua Thangaraj Gnanasekar - Founder, Director - Academy of Christian Studies. In today’s world, the word  “servant”  often carries a negative meaning. It is associated with weakness, low status, or lack of authority. Many aspire to be leaders, but very few willingly choose to be servants. Leadership is often imagined as power, control, recognition, and influence. Yet in the teachings and life of Jesus Christ, we encounter a radical reversal of this idea. Jesus took the word  “servant” —a term society looked down upon—and transformed it into the very  definition of true leadership . In the Kingdom of God,  a servant is not someone less than a leader. Rather, a true leader is a servant. The World’s Idea of Leadership Throughout history, leadership has often been associated with dominance. Kings ruled with authority, emperors demanded loyalty, and rulers expected to be served by others. Even...

Rethinking Humanity: What Jesus Reveals About the Dignity of Women

Rethinking Humanity: What Jesus Reveals About the Dignity of Women By: Joshua Thangaraj Gnanasekar - Founder & Director of Academy of Christian Studies Throughout history, societies have struggled to understand the true dignity and purpose of human beings. In many cultures women have been marginalized, treated as inferior, or denied equal dignity. At other times, reactions against such injustices have produced ideological movements that seek to redefine identity and relationships in ways that move away from the biblical vision of humanity. In both cases, the fundamental problem remains the same: humanity has forgotten its original design. The Bible begins with a profound declaration about human identity. In Genesis 1:27 we read: “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” This verse establishes the theological foundation for human dignity. Both men and women are created in the  image of God  (Imago Dei)...

Haman and Khamenei: Power, Hostility, and the Faithfulness of God

Haman and Khamenei: Power, Hostility, and the Faithfulness of God By: Joshua Thangaraj Gnanasekar - Chief Editor - Pilgrim Echoes History has a way of exposing recurring patterns in human nature. The names change. The empires shift. The technologies evolve. But pride, ideology, and the desire to erase perceived enemies remain remarkably consistent. The biblical narrative of  Haman  in the Book of Esther presents one such pattern. Haman was not merely a private individual harboring resentment; he was a political official in the Persian Empire who converted personal offense into public policy. His wounded pride toward Mordecai escalated into a state-sanctioned decree to annihilate the Jewish people. Hatred was institutionalized. Power was weaponized. Law became an instrument of destruction. The story is not simply religious folklore; it is a study in political psychology. When ego fuses with authority and ideology justifies elimination, persecution follows. Ancient Persia and Mo...
