Empowered for a Purpose: Jesus Sends Out the Twelve

Image
๐Ÿ“–  Scripture: Luke 9:1-6 ๐Ÿ’ก  Theme: Empowered for a Purpose The Call to Mission Jesus had been ministering, healing the sick, casting out demons, and preaching the Kingdom of God. His disciples had been watching and learning, but now the time had come for them to step out on their own. “When Jesus had called the Twelve together, He gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.”  (Luke 9:1-2) This moment was significant. ๐Ÿ“– Scripture: Luke 8:49-56 ๐Ÿ’ก Theme: Trusting Jesus When All Hope Seems Lost A Father’s Desperate Plea Jairus was no ordinary man. As a synagogue leader, he was a respected figure in the Jewish community — a man of influence and faith. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” (Mark 5:23) Jairus’ plea reflected both urgency and trust. He believed Jesus had the power to heal — but would Jesus arrive in time? A Costly Delay As Jesus began journeying toward Jairus’ house, the crowds pressed around Him. Suddenl...

Anyone who touched her would also become unclean. • The stigma attached to her condition likely resulted in isolation, loneliness, and feelings of rejection. • Mark’s Gospel tells us that she had spent all her money on doctors, yet her condition only worsened (Mark 5:26). This woman wasn’t just physically sick; she was emotionally drained, spiritually disconnected, and financially bankrupt. Everything seemed hopeless — except for one thing: she believed Jesus could heal her. The Power of Desperate Faith ...
